Happy 85th Birthday Mr Leslie!
There was a party atmosphere at Glasswells last week as the staff joined together to celebrate Leslie Glasswell's 85th birthday.
Known affectionately as Mr Leslie by the staff, father of current Managing Director Paul Glasswell, reached the grand age of 85, yet still looks as fit as a fiddle. Leslie took over the management of Glasswells from his father Jerry back in 1965 and continued the long succession of success until 1989, when he retired and passed the corporate reins to Paul.
Leslie likes to keep fit and is a keen golfer, he visits the World of Furniture store along Newmarket Road in Bury St. Edmunds regularly, keeping up to date on the latest developments and seeing how the brand new Ipswich store is progressing.
Staff at the Place to Eat restaurant served a delicious golf themed cake to commemorate the event, made by Sue Burgess Restaurant Supervisor, whilst Terry Glasswell, Leslie's cousin gave a speech and presented Leslie with a pair of beautiful cuff links, a gift from everyone at the store.
